Sportsmanship Award

In 1978, a Sportsmanship Award was presented to a team in each division. This award was named after Dick Stewart, a charter member of the tournament committee and an active supporter of Youth Hockey in Duluth over many years. This award is presented to the team in each division which exhibits the following traits of character and sportsmanship:

  1. Best conduct by a team on ice
  2. Best conduct by a team off the ice and in hotels and motels
  3. Best conduct on the team bench during and after game
  4. Their overall hockey skills

This has been a coveted award over the years. A panel of committee members makes the selection on the Sunday morning of the tournament based on reports from all 4 arenas, referees and hotel/motel managers.
